The Quietude blanket is meticulously crafted flat in one piece using aran-weight (or heavy worsted weight) yarn. This pattern is designed for versatility and includes a carriage blanket size, along with two additional larger sizes to suit your needs. The Cable Panel pattern is provided both as written instructions and as a chart, catering to different knitting preferences and skill levels.
Materials Needed
To create your Quietude blanket, you'll require aran-weight yarn, yielding 140 yards [128 m] per approximately 100 g [3.5 oz]: a total of 840 (1530, 2335) yards / 770 [1400, 2135] meters will be needed for the various sizes.
The sample shown uses Simpliworsted by HiKoo for Skacel in color #021 "Bubblegum," which showcases the cable pattern beautifully.
You will also need a US 9 [5.5 mm] 32” [80 cm] circular needle, or the size necessary to achieve the correct gauge. Additional knitting supplies include stitch markers, a cable needle, and a yarn needle to weave in any loose ends.
Gauge Information
Proper gauge is essential for achieving the desired dimensions of your blanket. The required gauge is 36 stitches / 20 rows = 6¾” [17.25 cm] wide and 3½” [9 cm] high in the Cable Panel, after blocking. Ensuring you meet this gauge will allow you to create a beautiful oversized blanket that’s perfect for curling up under on a chilly evening.
