Secret Crush
It's funny how the unexpected can sneak up on you; like falling in love with the WRONG person or knitting a hat that turns out to be totally different from what you had envisioned! Knitting is often a delightful journey of discovery, full of surprises along the way. This particular hat was originally intended to be a man's hat for charity, but as often happens in the world of crafting, the yarn had its way with me, twisting and turning my thoughts into a charming girl's toque.
Shown in the adult/teen size, this versatile knitting pattern can easily be adjusted. A simple change in stitch count will allow you to create matching hats for children or even infants. So why not give this fun knitting pattern a try? It’s free and knits up quicker than falling in love!
!!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!!
Many of our talented knitters have shared feedback that their finished hats turned out smaller than expected. To avoid this, be sure to check your gauge and consider moving up your needle size if necessary so that your gauge matches mine. I achieved my perfect fit through a heavy-duty blocking process (steaming, wet blocking, and drying with a round plate inside) for that maximum softness and delightful floppiness. The specified gauge is based on this blocking technique, so if your hat still comes out too small despite careful planning, try a good steamed blocking to help it reach its full potential.
Grab your yarn and let’s get started on this fun and whimsical knitting adventure. Who knows? You might just discover a love for creating unexpected pieces along the way!
