My wonderful neighbor Pat and I love to knit cozy blankets for charity, and we invite you to join us in this heartwarming project! Together, we often utilize donated yarn of various brands and weights, allowing us to create unique and colorful blankets while supporting those in need. Our preferred technique for joining these squares helps to smooth out any puckering caused by differing tensions, ensuring a beautiful finish.

In Australia, we primarily work with 8ply yarn (known as DK weight in the USA), which gives our blankets a lovely texture and warmth. Keep in mind that if you are using American worsted yarn, you may need to adjust your stitch count to match the desired size and fit of the squares.

This stunning blanket consists of 28 knitted squares, with each square measuring 25cm x 25cm (10 inches x 10 inches) and weighing approximately 50g (or 130 meters in length). Depending on your own tension and the yarn you select, you may need to increase or decrease the number of stitches to achieve the best results. Overall, including a decorative border, this generous blanket measures approximately 110cm x 180cm (43 inches x 70 inches), making it perfect for snuggling up on the couch or gifting to someone in need.
