"Mutation" Temperature Blanket

Free

Inspired by the trending concept of temperature blankets, I decided to embark on a creative knitting project and share my experience with you! This temperature blanket is crafted entirely in a beautiful garter stitch, making it both easy to knit and visually appealing.

For my blanket, I used two rows of garter stitch to represent the average daytime temperatures and another two rows to showcase the average nighttime temperatures. To ensure accuracy, I sourced the temperature data from the reliable Accuweather website, which allows you to input your own postcode to retrieve localized temperatures for your area. This customization adds a personal touch to your blanket, making it truly unique to your climate!

You can start (and finish) your temperature blanket at any time of the year; there’s no need to wait until January 1st to begin this fun project, just as I initially did. For my own project, I decided to stop at 6 months, realizing that a blanket stretching 16 feet long might be more than I really needed! However, feel free to adapt this project to your liking—whether you want to cover an entire year or just a season, the choice is yours.

This project not only results in a cozy and personalized blanket but also serves as a wonderful keepsake that captures the highs and lows of the weather over time. Dive into the world of temperature blankets and create your own piece of art that reflects your unique climate story!
