Kisses for Kate Baby Dress
Size: 0-3 months - 14” (from shoulder to bottom hem)
Materials Needed: To create this beautiful baby dress, you will need 250 yards of medium weight yarn (#4). For my designs, I used Lionbrand ‘Shawl in a Ball’ for the striking purple dress and Lionbrand “Heartland” for the elegant grey dress. Choose your favorite colors to personalize your creation!
Tools Required: You will need circular knitting needles in size US 7 (4.5mm) that are at least 14 inches in length to comfortably knit the dress. A tapestry needle is essential for sewing in the ends neatly. Additionally, have a 1/2” button on hand for closure at the back of the dress.
Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 18 stitches x 25 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch to ensure that your dress fits perfectly and maintains its shape.
Pattern Notes: This adorable baby dress is knit seamlessly from the top down, beginning at the collar and knitting flat for the first 25 rows. After establishing the yoke, you will join in the round, allowing for a smooth transition into the sleeves, which are bound off shortly afterward. The bodice continues in the round, featuring a few rows of ribbing and intricate cables that create a lovely waistline. The skirt flows from this point, also knit in the round after a couple of increase rows to achieve a graceful A-line silhouette. To finish, the bottom hem is intricately designed with a feather and fan lace pattern, resulting in a charming scalloped edge. A delightful button at the back adds a touch of functionality and style to this sweet ensemble.
