Blunk the Hat

Introducing the “Blunk” hat, an innovative design inspired by the beloved “Tensfield” and “Langfield” hats. As the creator, my goal was to craft a seamless hat that can be easily adjusted to fit the wearer's head during the knitting process. My family and I cherish our hats, wearing them frequently, but my mathematically inclined mind pushed me to find a solution for creating a symmetrical hat. The result is the “Blunk” – a delightful cousin to the Tensfield hat that you will surely enjoy knitting! You can use any yarn you have in your stash since gauge is not a concern, allowing for creativity and flexibility. This particular pattern shines when created with handspun yarn featuring long color changes, making each piece unique and visually stunning. The name “Blunk” pays homage to the nearby village of Tensfeld, just around the corner from Damsdorf, my home. The Blunk hat is knit in a modular fashion without any seams, ensuring a smooth finish. Any gaps at the top are effortlessly closed with a three-needle bind-off, resulting in a clean and polished look.
