Big and Little Hat

$3.59

If you're looking to add a unique and cozy accessory to your wardrobe, this stylish knitted hat is perfect for you! Originally designed as a charming striped stranded hat for a friend's baby using a delightful combination of colors from my scrap collection, I quickly realized I needed one in a larger size for myself. After all, the baby and I may live in different cities, but I’m sure he won’t mind sharing the spotlight! This hat not only serves as a trendy statement piece but also provides warmth and comfort during the colder months.

Sizes Available: Baby S (Baby L, Adult S, Adult L)

Finished Circumference: 12 (14, 18, 20) inches
This hat is expertly designed to fit with 2-3 inches of negative ease, ensuring a snug yet comfortable fit that will keep you warm.

Yarn Details: For this delightful project, I recommend using Cascade Yarns Cascade 220, a high-quality 100% wool fiber that boasts 220 yards per 100-gram skein. The primary color, #8886 Italian Plum (MC), beautifully complements the contrasting color, #8010 Natural (CC), giving your hat an eye-catching look. If you prefer a more practical option, you can easily substitute it with Cascade 220 Superwash, ideal for those who want a machine-washable hat perfect for everyday use.

Needle Requirements: To create this fashionable hat, you will need US 6 (4.0mm) and US 7 (4.5mm) 16-inch circular needles. Additionally, a set of 4 or 5 US 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed needles (DPNs) or the size needed to achieve the correct gauge is essential for finishing touches.

Essential Notions: Ensure you have a stitch marker and a tapestry needle on hand to make your knitting experience smooth and enjoyable.

Gauge Information: To achieve the perfect fit for your hat, aim for a gauge of 21 stitches and 29 rows per 4 inches in the charted pattern when using the larger needles.

This knitted hat pattern is not only fun to make but also a fantastic gift for friends and family! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced knitter, this project will add a touch of warmth and style to your wardrobe. Happy knitting!
