These beautifully designed socks draw inspiration from the iconic Bastei Bridge located on the German-Saxony border. This breathtaking bridge ignited my creative spirit and led to the creation of this intricate pattern. The unique blend of elements in this design captures the essence of the bridge, making it a must-try project for any avid knitter.

Please note that this pattern is not recommended for beginners unless you’re eager to take on a new sock knitting style. The design features captivating Fair Isle techniques on both the front and back of the sock, complemented by a slipped cable design. The pattern is presented sideways, so you may want to print it out or ensure you can comfortably read it in that orientation.

The socks are created using two different needle sizes, specifically US Size 2 and 4, both on a 32” circular needle. Additionally, you will need a cable needle or a stitch holder to facilitate the slipped cable design effectively. It’s important to have the right tools handy to ensure your project runs smoothly.

The gauge for this pattern is 22 stitches per 4 inches (or 10 cm). However, please keep in mind that gauge can vary based on your individual knitting tension. Those who tend to knit loosely may want to opt for a smaller needle size, while tighter knitters might consider a larger size for the best fit. Taking the time to achieve the correct gauge will greatly impact the final look and comfort of your socks. Enjoy crafting these beautiful socks that not only celebrate the wonder of the Bastei Bridge but also offer a delightful challenge to elevate your knitting skills!
